Georgette Heyer, Frederica

Aieee! A Heyer I didn't enjoy! I'll be generous and think perhaps it's because it wasn't in one of the editions I'm used to reading, and the font size was too small, and the comfort of the familiar is an important part of Heyer-reading. Maybe I'll try it again in a 'proper' edition.

I think it has enjoyable elements, but it's not my favourites, if only because the young couple in love are such right pair of wet-gooses, that you don't really care about them, compared with, say, with the ones in The Talisman Ring.

I have lots of others to work through before trying this one again.

Diversity is a good thing. ;) Frederica is my all-time favorite Heyer. Has been since I first read the 1965 paperback. I still have that - now well mended. But I use another copy to reread it. Which I do a lot.

Interesting how we respond differently and yet are still Heyer affectionados.
